Like, Uhhh...
LEICA: (pronounced like-ah) a movie made from storyboards and a soundtrack to help visualize a planned animation.
The storyboards are the FANTASTIC drawings of Dave Gale, Digital Animation instructor at the College of the North Atlantic's campus in Stephenville, Newfoundland. I used to work there myself and it was my privilege to teach some of this team's biggest contributing members. You're doing a great job guys!
Besides storyboards, the leica begins with an early rough animation test, so you can get a sense of the short's eventual look. The soundtrack consists only of dialogue (recorded at Soundpark Studios) and a few stand-in sound effects courtesy of www.SoundDogs.com
One small disclaimer: the structure of this leica is very loose, and it lacks the benefit of a completed soundtrack but don't worry, professionals are working on it!

Looks good, great idea. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Thanks, fellas!
Great boards Dave!
Just a couple of comments.
Be aware of the amount of head room you leave the actor when framing the shot. You don't want him cramped in there.
It would be nice to see a few more boards in a few places to flesh out some poses. It runs static in a couple of places.
The ninja pose near the end (1:40) could usea few more beats to breathe. Perhaps don't cut away so soon when Zarg asks for Canada. Keep the thugs in the background?
I think the script plays a lot better with the visuals and audio.
Good work guys!
Thanks, Art!
We're on the same page on all the fixes you mentioned. I'll be addressing them in production rather than in the leica, due to time concerns.
It's too bad, because a leica can help you confirm proper timing and framing before you make any mistakes in production. The best I've seen was by Wayne Gilbert, (ex-Sheridan animation head, ex-Disney, ex-ILM) on his short piece "Let Go". EVERY action was a new drawing. Beautiful work.
Hopefully everyone is getting a better sense of what this project's aims are in terms of quality. Timing will be a HUGE part of that, so do I'll do my best to provide you with more tests to critique.
Weee! OK, it's official. I need sleep now. ;O)
Thanks, Art. Who is the little dude in your pic, btw?
